Tirana lies over 100 meters (328 ft) above sea level, still in the flatter part of Albania. The city has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and fairly mild winters. Frost can occur from late October (though it is rare) until early May. Temperatures below -10°C are almost never seen. In summer, it can get quite hot in the city.
