The best time of year to visit Machu Picchu in Peru

The best time to travel to Machu Picchu is from June to September. It is winter which means it can be pretty cool in the mountains, however it are the most dry months and you will have the biggest chance to take photos with sun and beautiful blue skies. Due to the high altitude the temperature is much lower than at other places on earth on the same latitude. At night the temperature can drop below freezing, so wearing good and warm clothing is recommended.

During the month of August, September, October, November and December you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures that fall between 20 degrees Celsius (68°F) and 26 degrees Celsius (79°F).
