Sibiu is a city in the south of Transylvania, at the foot of the Transylvanian Alps, at an elevation of around 400 meters (1,312 ft). Because the city lies to the west of the Carpathians, the influence of the Black Sea is minimal. This gives the city a continental climate with fairly cool winters and warm summers.
