Mongolia means infinite, untouched steppes, hours of bumping over unpaved roads. Sleeping in tents and welcoming nomadic families who live according to age-old customs and traditions. We know camping in a traditional tent, a yurt or ger, is the best way to experience the breathtaking landscape of Mongolia.
Mongolia is a special country, it has a particularly rich flora and fauna. We definitely recommend to visit the most warm and dry region of Mongolia, the Gobi desert. Also take a boat trip on the Khövsgöl lake, the largest and deepest freshwater lake in Mongolia or walk through rugged mountains and vast grasslands with grazing horses, yaks and goats. After a day of exploring sit back and relax while you enjoy staying at a Mongolian Ger. Mongolia has the most beautiful starry sky ever. A tour through this country is a true journey of discovery and an unforgettable bucket list experience.

A lot of gers are located at a beautiful place. For example at the foot of rocky hills in the middle of a steppe landscape. Usually you will sleep with a family during your trip. A handful of gers are placed next to each other in the wide space. And at around 50 meters there is normally a lonely wooden box; the squad toilet. Either a hole in the ground with a box around it. But despite the fact that you will have to get used to this, we know for sure that this is the toilet with one of the best views in the world.

Where to stay

My Mongolia Eco Ger Camp camp is located in the beautiful Terelj National Park. From the camp with its fantastic views, you have easy access to the main attractions of the park. The camp is really comfortable, large and clean showers, and the yurt was traditionally decorated and equipped. There is a restaurant serving delicious traditional dishes. On booking.com they get an average rating of 9.3.

Best time to visit Mongolia

The long subarctic winter in Mongolia is not a very pleasant travel period. By the time it gets summer, the snow in the Gobi desert is replaced by sandstorms. It is in the end the rainy season, July to September, that is the best travel time. Click here for more climate details in Mongolia.
