Climate overview of Lalībela

Lalibela is a small city in northern Ethiopia, near the Eritrean border, in the Amhara region. It is best known for its rock-hewn churches, which are completely carved out of the rock.

Lalibela has a warm steppe climate, strongly influenced by its high altitude. Due to this elevation, temperatures are lower than in many other parts of Ethiopia. Rainfall is minimal throughout most of the year, except in July and August, when more than 100 mm (3.9 in) of rain can fall per day. As a result, average temperatures are slightly lower during these months.
