Climate overview of Isfahan
Isfahan is located west of central Iran, in Isfahan Province, on the Zayandeh Rud River. Unlike many other rivers in Iran, this river remains wet year-round.
Isfahan has a warm steppe climate, with hot, dry summers and cold to very cold winters. Due in part to its elevation (over 1,500 meters / 4,921 feet), winters are cold, often accompanied by a cold northern wind. Average winter temperatures hover around freezing, but on the coldest days, they can drop well below freezing. This period also sees the most precipitation, which often falls as snow.
Summers are very hot, with temperatures easily reaching 40°C (104°F). As no rain falls during this time, humidity remains very low.
