Funafuti Weather & Climate: Best Time to Visit
Funafuti is the capital of Tuvalu and its largest town, with a population of about 6,000. The "city" is spread across 33 smaller islands, which together form the Funafuti Atoll.
Like the rest of Tuvalu, Funafuti has a tropical climate with consistently warm temperatures and high rainfall throughout the year. The climate is ideal for a sun, sea, and beach vacation, but tourism remains low due to government policies discouraging it. Those who do visit describe beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and crystal-clear waters. However, the islands are also located in a region where cyclones, hurricanes, and tropical storms can occur. While the risk is relatively low, it is still a concern.
