Covid update for Hungary

Hungary Hungary closes borders to foreigners

Hungary wants to close its borders to foreigners by 1 September in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. That was announced by Prime Minister Viktor Orban's cabinet on Friday.

From that date, Hungarians who wish to return to the country must also be quarantined. They are only allowed to leave if they have had a negative corona test taken twice. The entry ban does not apply to military personnel, humanitarian services and diplomatic travel.
