Climate and Weather of Guanacaste, Costa Rica

In Costa Rica you have several regions, one of which is called Guanacaste. High temperatures are a constant in Guanacaste, especially in Tamarindo, with average maximums staying above 29°C all year long.

Guanacaste reaches its peak temperature in April, hitting 33°C, while January brings cooler conditions with daytime highs of 29°C.

February, March and April are generally the hottest months of the year.

When it comes to rainfall, Guanacaste sees significant variations throughout the year. October tends to be the wettest, receiving 354 mm of rain, while February is much drier with just 3 mm. Travelers should note that the rainy season falls during May, June, August, September and October, bringing substantial precipitation ranging from 241 mm to 354 mm monthly. For those seeking drier weather, January, February, March and December typically see minimal rainfall, never exceeding 14 mm.
