Climate and Weather of Namibia
Namibia has three different climate types that influence its landscape; however, most of the country features an arid climate. It is truly a sunny country, with an average of [300] days of sunshine per year. Summer runs from October to April, with temperatures reaching as high as 40°C, dropping to cooler levels at night. Average monthly nighttime temperatures range from 20°C to 34°C in summer.
Winter in Namibia
Winter stretches from June to September. Average minimum winter temperatures range between 6°C and 10°C, while daytime winter temperatures are between 18°C and 22°C.
Rainfall and Seasonal Patterns
Annual rainfall varies significantly across Namibia, from less than 50 mm along the coast to 350 mm in the interior and up to 700 mm in the Caprivi region. The rainy season starts in October and lasts until April.
Best Time to Visit Namibia
The best time to visit Namibia is during winter, from May to early September. It is dry, sunny, and not too hot. If you plan to travel around, it’s best to avoid the worst of the heat. Keep in mind that conditions can vary significantly across the country, so checking the climate data for each location is recommended.
