Climate and Weather of Cambodia

Cambodia, situated in Southeast Asia, lies within the tropical zone, positioned just 10°C to 13°C north of the equator. Like many countries in Southeast Asia, Cambodia experiences warmth throughout the year, with its climate deeply influenced by the annual monsoon cycle. This cycle alternates between wet and dry seasons, dictating the country's weather patterns and agricultural rhythms.

The rainy season, commonly referred to as the monsoon season, commences in April or May and persists until November. Throughout this period, Cambodia receives approximately 75% of its annual rainfall. The nature of these rains can vary. At times they manifest as brief, intense downpours swiftly followed by sunshine. On other occasions, they linger, causing steady rain for days on end.

For travelers considering a Cambodian escapade, the period spanning from December to early April is often recommended as the best travel window. However, it's worth noting that March and April can already be very hot, which many might find overwhelming.

The months of December through February emerge as the most optimal times for a visit. During this period, Cambodia experiences dry, tropically warm, and predominantly sunny weather. The hot temperatures usually set in around mid-to-late February, signaling the approach of the hotter months.
