Covid update for the United Kingdom

United Kingdom United Kingdom from national lockdown to regional restrictions

England is today moving to a system of having regional restrictions to prevent the spread of corona. A national lockdown took effect last month and has now ended.

40% of the population lives in regions that face the most severe restrictions. They may not be in indoor spaces with people from other households. The system with three levels of restriction is not as far-reaching as the previous two national lockdowns, but still entails major limitations. Shops and schools remain open, but in the heaviest category pubs and restaurants are closed.

The new system has been approved by the British Parliament.
