Nature in the most south-eastern part of Germany is impressive. The mountains tower high above typical villages and reflect in clear, blue lakes. The German Alps, with their diversity of landscapes, are an ideal destination for a wonderful holiday in nature. In winter, the alps turn into a popular German winter sports destination. After touring around in this area we found out that the Berchtesgaden National Park is without a doubt among the most beautiful areas in the German Alps. Here you can hike endlessly, far away from the inhabited world.

Set within Berchtesgaden National Park, at the foot of Watzmann Mountain you will find The Berghotel Rehlegg. It is set on the hillside just above the village and enjoys wonderful views. If you want to ski then the slopes are not far. So this hotel is is the ideal starting point for both sporting holidays and holidays dedicated to nature, tranquility and culture.

Hiking trails can be found all around the hotel and Ramsau village is very cute and romantic. We loved that the the hotel offered free (first-time) rental of E-bikes and a free rental of an small electric car if needed for a short trip. The warm staff will do everything to make you feel at home and are exceptionally friendly and genuinely happy. You can feel that everyone is at work with their heart and soul.

The hotel has a very nice sauna area with beautiful details, a large indoor pool and several relaxation areas. The outdoor pool is actually as beautiful as in the photos. The facilities in the sauna are excellent and it has a "Finnish" sauna (i.e. you use this naked).

The restaurant serves regional and fine traditional dishes. The concept implies: “Only healthy, fresh and not tortured, carefully prepared and of course outstanding taste shall be served.” 90 % of all products for the buffet restaurant Lichtmanneggers and the à La carte restaurant Almstüberl are sourced directly from the region. The chosen partners and suppliers share the same values like the dedication for the environment and the respect towards animals of any kind. According to strict organic standards, the Berghotel now runs its own pig farm. Vegetarians/vegans are also catered for.

Best time to visit
