The Biogradska Gora National Park covers 1,600 hectares and is absolutely amazing. It is one of Europe's last three rain forests. The national park is in only 54 square kilomter (21 miles) however it offers an enormous variety of flora and fauna. The park consists of untouched forest, mountain slopes and mountain peaks over 2000 meters (6561 ft). Most trees in the forest are more than 500 years old with heights up to 60 meters (197 ft).

The place for mountain bikers and hikers

This park is the ultimate dream for mountain bikers and hikers. There are many different routes, ranging from short and relaxed (3.5 km route around the lake) to challenging (a 35 km climb). The best location to start your adventure is at Lake Biogradska. Around the lake you have many nice picnic areas with shade and it is also a nice lake to swim in.

Where to stay

There are no hotels located in the park. It is possible to spend the night in one of the bungalows of Eco Village Goles. If you want to have a unique local experience we recommend this place. It is basic but great accommodation in a beautiful, unique mountain environment.

You will be surrounded between sheep, goats, cows and horses. Despite the long way to get there you will have an amazing stay in the middle of the nature. Each bungalow has two wooden beds and all other basic elements for a pleasant stay, perfectly blended in the landscape. Be aware these are fully booked quickly in high season.

How to get there

The main entrance to the park is between Kolašin and Mojkovac on the Podgorica-Belgrade highway.

Ecology of the park

There are around 220 different plant species, 150 different bird species and 10 different mammals. There are also 86 different trees and mosses in the forests. Trees that are over 500 years old makes this place unique.
