Climate and Average Weather in Palau

The tropical climate of Palau is characterized by very constant temperatures. Throughout the year, the maximum temperature is on average around 30-31 degrees Celsius (86-88 degrees Fahrenheit). At night the minimum temperature reaches an average of 22 to 24 degrees Celsius (71.6-75°F). It rarely gets warmer, because there is a continuous cooling effect from the surrounding ocean water and the wind from the sea.

The islands of Palau experience high amounts of precipitation throughout the year. On some locations we record more than three thousand millimeters (314 inch) of rain on an annual basis. Luckily most heavy rain ends just as quick as it started. The amount of rain from May to November is still slightly higher than during the other months.

The best time to visit Palau is from February to April. This is the sunniest period and it is the part of the year when there is less rainfall. The country can be hit by tropical cyclones or hurricanes. Hurricane season in this region begins around April or May and lasts through November. There is a chance that Palau will have to deal with a cyclone. However this does not occur every year.
