Climate and Weather of Micronesia
Micronesia has a tropical climate type with large amounts of rain throughout the year. Temperatures are tropical with maximum temperatures of between 30°C and 31°C. Minimum temperatures are not much lower with 22°C to 26°C as the lowest temperature in a day.On average, the islands of Micronesia record as much as three thousand to more than 8000 mm of rain per year. The eastern islands are the wettest. Both the amount of rain and the frequency of tropical showers decreases as you move further west.
On the islands of Micronesia, due to its small size, a refreshing ocean breeze is often felt. From December to mid-year there is almost always a stronger trade wind, which usually blows from the northeast. During this period, there is also an increasing risk of tropical storms or even hurricanes on most of the Micronesian islands. Hurricanes can occur from October/November to June.
The best travel time for a holiday in Micronesia is from January to April. This is the driest time of the year. For the westernmost islands of Micronesia, the period February to April is the best time to visit. If you want to visit the central or eastern islands, choose the period January to March.
