Climate and Average Weather in Micronesia
Micronesia has a tropical climate type with large amounts of rain throughout the year. Temperatures are tropical with maximum temperatures of around 30-31 degrees Celsius (86-88 degrees Fahrenheit. Minimum temperatures are not much lower with 22 to 26 degrees Celsius (71-79°F) as the lowest temperature in a day.
On average, the islands of Micronesia record as much as three thousand to more than eight thousand millimeters (118-314 inch) of rain per year. The eastern islands are the wettest. Both the amount of rain and the frequency of tropical showers decreases as you move further west.
On the islands of Micronesia, due to its small size, a refreshing ocean breeze is often felt. From December to mid-year there is almost always a stronger trade wind, which usually blows from the northeast. During this period, there is also an increasing risk of tropical storms or even hurricanes on most of the Micronesian islands. Hurricanes can occur from October/November to June.
