Climate and Average Weather in Madagascar
Madagascar has a hot and subtropical climate with colder temperatures in the mountains. The seasons are mainly divided into two main periods: the rainy season from November to March and the dry season from April to October. The length of each period varies from one region to another. The average annual precipitation varies from 1,000 to 1,500 mm (39 to 59 inches). The coastal region has a tropical climate and no complete dry season. The heaviest rainfall occurs on the coastal region between May and September with average annual precipitation varying from 2,030 mm to 3,250 mm (80 to 120 inches). Average monthly temperature ranges in Antananarivo from 9 to 20 degrees Celsius (48 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit) in July to 16 to 27 degrees Celsius (61 to 81 degrees Fahrenheit) in December.
