Morocco Three-week evening curfew in Morocco

In Morocco, a curfew will apply between 21:00 and 06:00 in Morocco for the next three weeks. Shops and restaurants have to close at 8 p.m. In cities like Casablanca, Marrakesh, Agadir and Tangier, the restaurants are closing completely. For the whole country, the celebration of New Year's Eve in large groups is forbidden this year.

In Morocco, more than 30,000 people are currently infected with the coronavirus. 7000 people died as a result of the virus.

Morocco Morocco has partially lifted their restrictions for travel

Morocco's borders are open only to returning Moroccan residents and citizens (tourists, students or residents stranded abroad), foreign nationals who are visa exempt if they have a hotel reservation confirmation or an invitation from a Moroccan company. Travelers must present a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to travel and completed a passenger health form online.

Morocco Morocco reopens borders to 67 countries

Morocco will reopen its borders for international tourism this week to 67 countries including the United States. 

In a recent tweet, Royal Air Maroc said “Nationals of visa-exempt countries with an invitation from a Moroccan company or a confirmed hotel reservation can now have access to our flights to Morocco. All foreign visitors must comply with the health measures issued by the Moroccan authorities, in particular the obligation to carry out the required tests for COVID-19.”

Morocco The EU has placed Morocco on the list of unsafe countries

This means that travelers from Morocco are only welcome in EU and Schengen countries if this is urgentl. EU Member States can decide for themselves whether to follow the EU line. The Netherlands is expected to make a decision on travelers from Morocco in the coming week.

The Netherlands, like other EU and Schengen countries, have closed its borders to people from outside Europe who do not make essential journeys. An exception is made for travellers from a number of countries. Morocco is one of them.

Morocco Morocco closes access to largest cities

Morocco will close access to some of the country's largest cities from 0.00 am (local time), the Government decided this on Sunday. Local authorities will prevent people from entering the cities.

Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakesh and Meknès, among others, will no longer be accessible. It is unclear how long the closure will last and how the ban will be enforced.

Morocco Morocco opens borders on July 14 for Moroccans abroad

Morocco will open the border to Moroccans living abroad from 14 July. That's what state news agency MAP reports. Both by boat and by plane, the country can then be accessed by people of Moroccan nationality.

However, travellers must be able to prove that they have been tested negative for the coronavirus. The national airline will schedule as many flights as possible to bring travellers to Morocco. Read more here.
