Sweden closes border with Norway

Sweden will close its border with Norway from midnight. The country wants to prevent the spread of the British corona mutation. The entry ban shall apply at least until 14 February.

Among others commuters are exempt from the rules. The decision comes after Norway yesterday took heavy lockdown measures in a number of municipalities over the outbreak of the British variant at a retirement home south of Oslo. According to Swedish Interior Minister Mikael Damberg, the entry ban should prevent Norwegians from crossing the border to shop in Sweden, for example.

In addition, the Swedish government advises against unnecessary travel to Norway. And the existing entry ban for travelers from Great Britain and Denmark has also been extended.
