There’s magic in the Pacific Ocean, a chain of islands that holds a very special feeling and a very unique way of living. Welcome to Maui, also known as the heart of the world. People from all over come to discover its raw beauty, it’s the #1 destination for marriages and those that live there, have a great affinity for earth. On the mainland, we don have a word for it, but in Hawaii, we call it aloha. To share one breathe between two people.
Maui is located exactly 3,900 miles away from California and Japan making it the most isolated island chain in the world, Perfect to hold such a delicate, gentle, earth loving way of life. On the other hand, with it being such a popular destination, its easy to disrupt this sacred way of life. That’s why I’ve made it my job to help educate our visitors.
Being an island, the majority of Maui is surrounded by coral reefs. Gorgeous reefs that hold many different endemic species of fish. When visitors come, its natural for them to believe that sunscreen is there for protection, but actually it causes more harm then good. We love the sun in Hawaii, the sun actually protects you from cancerous rays, its give you a natural source of vitamin D which helps all of your body. When we, the people of Hawaii, go outside, we eat our sunscreen! Yep! Oranges, mangoes, papaya, and coconut all give you healthy dose of sun protection that your body creates from the food we eat. We love this because its good for us, its good for you! It protects our marine life as well as the earth.
Another theme to living in Maui, is simplicity. Life is filled with thankfulness and gratitude, giving, and this fills our hearts. Our homes are not big, because we love the earth. Our cars aren’t fancy because we are not trying to impress our ego. We are all about giving and sharing. If you have a papaya tree, and I have a mango tree, we both benefit because we share. Its common to pick someone that’s hitch hiking on the side of the street because helping, being of service, giving, that’s what we are about. We try to educate our visitors to embrace this way of life as they experience Maui.
So when you come to visit, which we would love for you to do, bring your heart. It’s the only outfit you will need. Be open to embracing a lifestyle that is earth focused.
Be open to letting go of your job title, the money in your bank account, what car you have, what clothing brand your wearing, free yourself and live “aloha”. Were here embracing each other and earth and we want you to join.
