The development of wine production in Australia over the past twenty years has given this remote and beautiful corner of the world a cosmopolitan flair, with its stunning landscape of surf beaches, well-maintained vineyards, and impressive forests. Wines from the vineyards of Vasse Felix, Cape Mentelle, Cullens, and the prestigious Leeuwin Estate are world-renowned. But it’s not just the wine that draws visitors. Margaret River is known for its great restaurants, art, and outdoor adventures.

The annual Leeuwin Estate Concerts, a summer music festival in January attracts world-class artists and a growing audience. The Margaret Valley area enjoys a Mediterranean-Maritime climate. Every spring, countless wildflowers bloom, covering the land in a vibrant blanket of color. More than 1,000 species have been recorded, including nearly 70 species of orchids. This happens from September until October.

Fortunately, Cape Lodge, one of the most tastefully decorated and peaceful country hotels in the region, is located here. The main building—designed in the architectural style of the South African Cape—is set amidst rolling fields and beautiful gardens, overlooking a lake where guests can swim and canoe.

In the morning, guests are awakened by a chorus of kookaburras, making all other sounds fade into the background.
