Climate and Weather of Senegal
The northern part of Senegal has a warm desert climate, the central part has a warm steppe climate and the southern part a tropical Savannah climate. However due to climate change, the total area consisting of desert has increased significantly.In Senegal you can expect high temperatures throughout the year. At Dakar, during the cool season (December til April), the average daily maximum is around 26°C and the average minimum 18°C. During the hot season (Juli - October) the monthly averages are 30°C and 20°C.
The country has a rainy season that starts in the south in June and lasts until October. More north there is no real rainy season, but just a wetter period with some precipitation. Average annual rainfall ranges from 340 mm at Podor in the extreme north to 1550 mm at Ziguinchor, in the southwest.
The best time to visit Senegal is from November to mid-February. It is dry and in this period you avoid the worst heat. If you just want to visit the beaches of Senegal you could go from October to April.
