The Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) are a quiet, remote and pristine archipelago of some 778 islands located off the coast of Argentina.

The best travel time for the Falkland Islands is between October and March, with the months December and January offering the best opportunities in terms of wildlife spotting. This period is the breeding season for most species. The Falkland Islands have a cool maritime climate with steady rainfall throughout the year. Only in the months of December and January the rainfall is slightly higher.

Snowfall does occur on the Falkland Islands, but it is very sporadic.The average annual temperature is 5.5 degrees Celsius (42 degrees Fahrenheit). Due to the almost always present wind, the weather is very changeable in every period of the year. The western islands get more sun than the eastern half of the archipelago.
