Costa Rica New Corona measures in Costa Rica in January

From January 4-17, there will be stricter measures for some activities:

  • Beaches will be open only from 5 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
  • Bars and casinos must limit capacity to 25%.
  • National Parks must limit capacity to 50%.

A slightly stricter vehicular restriction will apply from January 4-31 as follows:

  • Monday to Friday: The nighttime vehicular restriction will remain from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays: The nighttime vehicular restriction will be from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. In addition
    - Saturdays: Vehicles with license plates ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 cannot drive.
    - Sundays: Vehicles with license plates ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 cannot drive

Costa Rica Canada, UK & EU welcome in Costa Rica starting August 1

Costa Rica will be reopening its borders for international tourists starting on August 1st allowing visitors from Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union, Tourism Minister Gustavo Segura announced Thursday. Read more about the entry requirements here.

Costa Rica Costa Rica will reopen its borders on August 1 for low-risk countries

Costa Rica will reopen its borders for tourism on August 1, 2020, allowing tourists from select low-risk countries.

Daniel Salas, the Health Minister of Costa Rica, made an announcement on June 26th clarifying that the current travel ban set to expire on June 30th will be extended another month until August 1st, at which point the borders can finally open up again to foreigners.
