Covid update for the United Kingdom

United Kingdom United Kingdom tightens Corona measures

The Corona measures in England are tightening again due to an increasing number of infections. Prime Minister Johnson said that at a press conference. From 8 August, a mask or other face protection is mandatory in cinemas, places of worship and museums. This is already mandatory in public transport and shops.

Furthermore, the relaxation of other corona measures in England is being slowed down, Johnson said. Next Monday, casinos, theatres and bowling centres, among others, would be allowed to reopen again, but that is not going to happen. Weddings were also allowed again, but that's cancelled as well. The easing has been postponed until at least 15 August.

Medical advisers to the British government say they are not sure the reproduction number is still below 1 in England. A number above 1 means that the virus is spreading again.
