Covid update for Italy

Italy Travel to and from Italy has been permitted for travelers from the Schengen area

Since 3 June, travel to and from Italy has been permitted for travelers from the Schengen area. The entry and exit restrictions have been lifted, but you may be checked for symptoms at the border. The color code of the country has been changed from 'orange' (only necessary travel) to 'yellow' (note: there are safety risks).

In Italy you can travel with your family in a car. If you go out with people from outside the household, you have to keep 1 meter away (i.e. up to two people in one row) and everyone has to wear a mask. In addition, only the driver may sit in the front seat.

Gas stations along the highway are open and most public toilets as well. Again, keep your distance and put on mouthcaps. Travel by public transport is also possible, but wearing a mask is mandatory. In Italy, you have to keep 1 meter distance.

It is forbidden to go out when you have respiratory problems and fever. Group formation in public places is also not allowed. Specific regions may, if necessary, take more stringent measures.

What's open? Churches, museums and other cultural institutions are open, but they limit the number of visitors so that there is enough distance to be kept. Since 18 May, the shops are reopened. Nightclubs, saunas and casinos are still closed.

We recommend to always check if there are any latest travel restrictions before you book an accommodation. Travel may only be permitted for certain purposes and recreational travel may not be specifically permitted. Government measures are constantly changing, so we recommend that you regularly check for updates. Click here for travel restrictions and guidelines for Italy.
