Covid update for Micronesia

Micronesia First Corona case in Micronesia

Corona has also been found for the first time on the remote island of Micronesia. The pacific country north of New Guinea was one of the last places where the virus had not yet seen.

A ship crew member tested positive for the virus. That ship had been in the Philippines for a stopover and is now anchored at Micronesia. The infected man and his colleagues must remain on board. The president is calling on the 100,000 residents to remain calm.

Micronesia kept the virus out for a long time by closing the borders. As a result, schools and shops on the archipelago were able to remain open. As far as is known, no corona has yet been detected in the island.
