Covid update for United States of America

California closed cafes, restaurants, cinemas and museums again.

In the US state of California, cafes are closed again and restaurants, cinemas and museums are no longer allowed to let people in. That's what the California governor announced Monday.

In the 30 mostly densely populated regions in the state, gyms, places of worship, hairdressers, beauty salons and shopping centres have also been closed. These include Los Angeles and areas around San Francisco.

In two weeks, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in California has increased by 28 percent, while the number of people in intensive care has increased by 20 percent. Many hospitals in rural areas are at their maximum capacity.

Los Angeles is the region with the most infections within the United States. More than 133,000 people have contracted the coronavirus there so far. 3,809 people died from COVID-19.
