The subtropical Mediterranean climate in Funchal and Madeira is predominantly determined by the Atlantic Ocean. As a result, there are not many weather extremes on the island. The only period when it gets really hot is when the Leste-wind arrives from Africa. There is around 600 mm of annual rainfall and most rain is seen in winter.
During the months of June, July, August, September, October and November you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures that fall between 20°C and 26°C.
